Douglas S. Grossbart, M.D., is a physician-attorney admitted to the New Jersey Bar specializing in medical malpractice, brain injury, product liability, nursing home litigation and other complex personal injury matters, including substantial automobile and related cases involving catastrophic injuries. A 1988 graduate of Seton Hall University, summa cum laude with a degree in chemistry and a 1993 graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Doug completed his medical training internship in York, Pennsylvania before attending Law School.

He has handled medical malpractice, nursing malpractice, and hospital malpractice as well as nursing home abuse and malpractice matters in addition to matters involving brain injury, medical products and drug litigation. The medical negligence matters span numerous specialties, including obstetrics, gynecology, oncology (cancer), anesthesiology, radiology, cardiology, as well as surgery and surgical subspecialties, such as neurosurgery [including invasive neuroradiology] and orthopedic surgery.

Doug has co-authored chapters in books concerning medical malpractice and has given presentations and seminars to attorneys, health care professionals and others concerning the subject. He has been involved as a corporate sponsor for the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey, and has provided information on brain injury to the public. He is a member of the American Association for Justice – N.J., the American Association for Justice, the Traumatic Birth Injury Litigation Group, the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group, the Nursing Home Litigation Group, among others.

Doug’s noteworthy cases have included a client who was burned internally by a medical device; a young woman who died as a result of negligent removal of ovaries; a young man who was ejected from a vehicle in a rollover which resulted in quadriplegia; a young woman whose leg needed to be amputated as a result of emergency room and orthopedic surgery treatment delays, a woman who became blind in one eye as a result of eye physician negligence, and numerous other medically oriented cases including obstetrical and brain injury matters. Doug obtained a 5.59 million dollar Trial verdict on behalf of a medical malpractice victim.

Doug has additionally used his knowledge and expertise assisting and working with co-counsel in out-of-state jurisdictions, including New York [medical malpractice and automobile negligence], Illinois [automobile/paralysis/quadriplegia], Nevada [nursing malpractice] and California [scientific patent].
